Today I saw some lot #28's in a kind of a discount liquor store. I know that this wine is up to lot #30. Would the #28 be a wise purchase or not? I didn't see any #29 or #30 on the shelf.

MANY years ago I was on Kauai enjoying the sun and surf. I toddled into a local shop that had no air-conditioning to speak of. There on the shelf was a Marietta Old Vines that I knew was at least 5 years old. I figured it was belly up, but I bought it on a whim. That evening with BBQ, the wine was opened and sucked down to the last drop -- pretty darned tasty even if abused a bit. Listen to WW -- he knows of whence he speaks/drools.........

Hey Bucko! Welcome back! Hope you had a great time! Thanks for the advice, both of you. I'm going back to the store. I think they wanted $12.99 for it.

Oh, WW, you needn't worry. No one could ever take your place. You are one of a kind, that's for sure.

Thank goodness for that.

bought a bottle of lot #30 on Saturday.

I had a bottle of #30 a month or so ago. The first glass was good, but it really seemed to come alive after it had a chance to breath for a little while.

Found an old mystery bottle of Lot #29 at a liquor store not too long ago. Popped it last night. Very sweet, with some raisin aromas and flavors. No real tannins left, it seems. Very round and flavorful, but I wouldn't hold them much longer if any are still floating around the cellar.

I wish I had some left. I'm on 35!
