I was given a gift certificate to a local wine shope and went down there yesterday. I've never really tried wine so the man reccomended one to me which he thought was good for beginners. It was a Joseph Kaetzler 2000 pinot gris. I enjoyed it quite a bit. I really don't know much about wine but have done some internet research and learned a bit here. I'm interested in trying others now. I read lots of mentions of the Bordeaux wine so maybe I'll try that one? But I'd also like to try other whites maybe other pinot gris similar so I can compare some differences. any and all suggestions are appreciated!

Sounds like you are on the right track, and you have a good retailer too. Browse through the specific wine forums on this board for more and many ideas.
