Hi....I used to be a white wine drinker, but was turned on to red. I LOVE IT!!! I've tried a few different kinds but always seem to stick to the same kind (italian). I like a smooth, dry wine that you can sip on whether it's accompanied with food or amongst friends....It does'nt have to be italian....any suggestions?

Try some Morgon or Moulin-a-vent. They are some of my favorite wines from Beaujolais. Most any brand will do. Georges Duboeuf is always pretty reliable. They should fit your bill.

Hi the sunflowerrrpn and welcome to the board. It's very apparent from your post that you're a person of uncommon High quality taste. So much great wine out there that any overview is very scant and doesn't give you useful info. Go to the Bordeaux thread, the Cabernet , Merlot, The Rhone, Zinfandel and the other red wine threads and read the posts. They'll guide you to many great wines experiences. Have fun and drink lots. welcome sunflower. Heed WW's advice. Also, in the "Wines Without a Category" thread, you'll find Marietta Calif. Old Vine Red...a "field blend" that is nice for sippin' or with burgers, meatloaf & other everyday fair.

And, as I always recommend to Canadians, don't overlook wines from the Okanagan B.C. wine country...I like the Sumac Ridge Cabernet Franc for the very purpose you've described.

Cheers, cp
