I am looking for a book on Italian estates, regions, etc. The basics which include, of course, wine (estate) ratings.

Thanks

The recognized authority on Italian wines is Burton Anderson, and currently available is his small (288 pages) book titled Wines of Italy. Everything here from Piedmont to Sicily...It lists for $14.95. If you can't find it locally, it's available through The Wine Trader book services...winetrader@aol.com or (800 845-9463.

Thanks for the tip

If you're looking for a book with ratings, there is the Italian Wines 1999 guide from Gambero Rosso Editore/Slow Food Editore.
They rate Italian wineries by one, two or three glass symbols with stars for the producers who have received the three glass rating ten times.
The e-mail for the USA office is gamberousa@aol.com and the phone is 212-253-5653.
Hope this helps.
