I'm fairly new to wines, please give me a few recommendations for sweet wines.

Try a german gewurztraminer or riesling. There are several good cheap ones whose names unfortunately I can't recall at the moment. But note that the French wines from the same region(more or less) are usually much drier. Also look into any wine made from the muscadet variety of grapes. I'm assuming by table wines you mean to eat with dinner. Dessert opens up a whole new horizon.

For American wine you can ask your dealer for "off dry" riesling, gewurztraminer, or muscat (sometimes called orange muscat). These are all white wines. If you need or want a red wine, sweet red table wines are harder to find. There are white zinfandels (which are pink), and a few "late harvest" red zinfandels. Some wines containing a lot of fresh fruit give an "illusion of sweetness." Will spare you the details on that. Some that fall into this area are Beaujolais (the 2000 Nouveau Beaujolais are available and nice), and barbera from either Italy or California. The younger, less expensive ones are the fruitiest. There is a whole other world of dessert wines that are intended to go with desserts, not with the main course.
