I am new to red wine drinking. I bought a couple of red wine glasses and a bottel 1996 KWV Merlot, but if I am to fill the glasses, there will be only two from the bottel, so how much do I pour at a time?

A serving of wine is three to four ounces.

Biiiig Glasses Swannie!! I recently commented to a friend that the few remaining unbroken glasses I have from the early 70's were tiny compared to my recently gifted Reidel Bordeux glasses which are huge. The suggestion was made that it is related to the notion that a glass of wine a day is very good for you but more than two is a precursor to alcoholism. If it's to be one glass let's make it a big one! Cheers

A good rule of thumb is fill to the widest portion of the glass. This syncs with the Reidel glasses mentioned and also with the suggestion of three to four ounces.
Wines served by the glass are served to the top of the glass in most places so the customer perceives value. This is why many restaurants serve different glasses for WBG program and bottle.

Bucko, if you come early and stay late, like most of my visitors, you win in the percentages...
