I turn 21 this weekend and I was wondering what kind of wine would be good to entertain a few friends who have never tasted anything but extremely bitter wine. I would like to knock their socks off and show them what they have been missing. Unfortunately I don't have much money.

Also I have been reading some of the other threads and I am impressed with the amount of knowledge I see and also relieved at the humor that is passed around. I am glad I joined this site and not some other where profanity is allowed free reign.

Hi Aximili, and welcome to the Wine Board. Why not celebrate with bubbly? In the bubbly scheme of things Brut is dry and Extra Dry is slightly off dry (take my word for it). The Spanish cavas are wonderful and inexpensive. Look for Freixenet or Codorniu Extra Dry.

Another Cava that is very good, probably a bit better than the two previously mentioned, but slightly harder to find is Segura Viudas.

If you want to blow about $40 bucks though, pick up a champagne from Pol Roger.
