- Duane Meissner - 04-30-2001 Does anyone know of an easy to find wine that suggests the taste of licorice? D - Innkeeper - 04-30-2001 Foppiano Petite Sirah. - Duane Meissner - 04-30-2001 Thanks! I'll try it. If anyone knows of any others that would be great. D - Innkeeper - 04-30-2001 Duane, do what I did. Type Licorice into the Search function. There were seven or so reusults including some other wines. - barnesy - 04-30-2001 A nice Chateau de Twizzler is always good. I'm sorry, I couldn't resist. Barnesy - Drew - 04-30-2001 I like the Foppiano also. Drew - Duane Meissner - 05-01-2001 Thanks guys... I used the search function and got some other suggestions. Barnesy, I'm afraid I couldn't find your suggestion anywhere... hmmm... :-) D I'm going to school in Minnesota right now, it's a dry campus. I won't be able to experiment with new wines until I get back to Austin for the summer. These will be fun ones to try though... can't wait! Will the Central Market in Austin carry the Foppiano? [This message has been edited by Duane Meissner (edited 05-01-2001).] - Botafogo - 05-01-2001 Most Lagrein Dunkel (from Alto Adige) and teroldego Rotaliano (from Trentino) have distinct black liquorice notes mixed with a dark tar or smoke component. Roberto - Blue - 05-01-2001 Central Market may not have it but the Austin Wine Merchant should. They are a great retailer and one you should get to know real well. They just had a fantastic sale (30% of all Burgundys, 40% of Italians I think) Enjoy -Blue (used to live in Austin) - Duane Meissner - 05-02-2001 You left a great city! D - Duane Meissner - 05-19-2001 I found the Foppiano mentioned above at a local grocery store for just over $16... is that a good price? D - RAD - 05-19-2001 Duane, that is a good price. I was just out in Sonoma and I visited Foppiano. They had just a few of the 98 Petite Sirahs left, and I believe the asking price was around $18. RAD - Drew - 05-20-2001 It's going for $16 here in the Middle Atlantic. Drew |
