whats a good middle of the road or bargain priced pinot noir? I am not too familiar with this type of wine? any suggestions?

Try one from Estancia, Pepperwood Grove or Kenwood. Decent juice at a good price.

I enjoyed Brancott's reserve Pinot Noir. It goes for $15 aound here, and should be pretty easy to find. I have aslo enjoyed Rex Goliath Pinot Noir as well. That is around $8 dollars. I also hear Castle Rock Pinot is pretty good as well. Hope it helped.

Latour's ordinary Bourgogne from Burgundy.
Try a Sancerre.
Try Buena Vista from the US.

What Brom is referring to is a Sancerre Rouge made from pinot noir. If you just ask for Sancerre you will get a white wine made from sauvignon blanc.

Skirf, it would help if you qualify what you mean by "bargain priced." I'm sure Donald Trump's idea of a bargain is not what yours or mine is; but then, yours might also be different from mine.
Is $18-$20 bargain priced? That is the vicinity for a fine Sancerre Pinot Noir--and I am glad someone on the board mentioned it, 'cause it deserves mention.
