I was given a bottle of Chateau-Lascombes Margaux Grand Cru Classe, 1968 from my mother-in-law. I don't know how it was stored, but is there any chance this wine is still good and, if so, is it worth anything?

The Chateau is top notch, but the vintage year was horrible. No value and long since dead IMO.

Thanks for letting me know the bad news. Forgive me for a stupid question, I'm a real wine novice, but is the wine actually something called margeaux or is it a grand cru? What kind of grapes would this be made of? Finally, if 1968 was a bad vintage for this winemaker and wine, what would be a good one that isn't too expensive? Thanks for the help.

Chateau-Lascombes is the estate name, Margaux is the region.

The estate was purchsed in 2001 (I think) and upgrades were made after a decline in quality.

The 2001 is pretty tasty, $40.
