I'm wondering if some of the outstanding experts here could advise me on White Zinfadel. I've noticed in the wine store that the WZ is refrigerated. I bought a bottle (Turning Leaf, CA) from the grocery store that was not refrigeratad. Should WZ be refrigerated? Or does it depend on the brand? Should it be served cold, chilled or room temperature? Help appreciated!

WZ is best served chilled. WZ gets a bad name because it is often a cash cow for wineries. Some wineries take it seriously, just like any other Rose, and make quaffable summer sippers.

Can white wine be over chilled? I heard just a few days ago that most restaurants serve white wine to cold. That it should be cool not cold to allow for the true flavor of the grape to come through. It sound reasonable to me, what say you?

I would say chilled, not frosty. If served too cold you can let it warm up a few minutes or cup the bowl in your hands to hasten warming. I did have a champagne once served so cold that it left my mouth numb and I couldn't really discern its characteristics.

You can overchill a white wine. I've heard from a number of people, and I've noticed myself, that a number of things happen to white wines that are too cold. All the fruity flavor goes flat and dull. The prominent impact is from the acid in the wine and sometimes the alcohol. I don't like overchilled white wines.
