Cabernet Sauvignon, Veneto, Giovello 2002

Anyone try the above. Someone had mentioned it to me as a wine they enjoyed. Went to get some ,saw a price of less than 3.00 per bottle and got scared off. Any information would be greatly appreciated. A price like that seems like a wine that will be less than memorable. Thanks.

At three bucks a bottle who csres? Give it a try -- may be the buy of the year.

It will probably be decent, especially for the price. I, too, would buy a bottle to see how it was.

Many times the price really has nothing to do with the wine. There are a lot of variables that have to do with the distributor that aren't recognized. Sometimes a distributor has a committment for the next vintage and hasn't sold through the current one so they "dump it" so they have room for the new one coming in. Some retailers pass along the savings to their customers - others pocket it.

Seems like there have been a lot of news stories about oversupply of wines lately (like for the past year or more?). At least I can remember this being said about French and California wines.

So maybe we shouldn't be too surprised if some prices get really low.
