Hello,
Like a previous post here, I am looking to give my bride to be a gift of a few wines. I am just looking for info on wines for 1, 5, and 10 years out. Anyone have any good suggestions? Or maybe a way to find out what wines will be good in what years in the future?

Thanks.

Hi WineNewby, and welcome to the Wine Board. Give her her favorite ready to drink wine for 1. You haven't specified red or white, so will assume red, and yes I know that is dangerous. For year 5 I would get a Crozes Hermitage. For year 10 I would get an '04 Bordeaux, Barolo, Barbaresco, Brunello, or Cote Rotie.

Hi WN and add my welcome to the board. Post the color of the wine your love is dedicated to and IF it's red I mite suggest some current CALIF releases she will adore whenced the corks be pulled. WW

The info you're looking for is available in the posts pertaining to the different varietals. Read the posts under Cabernets, Pinot Noirs, Italian Wines, Bordeaux, etc. There's a wealth of good info available. For wines that will go 1 year look under Good Buys. You didn't give a price range so again it's hard to make specific recs. WW

For five year whites consider an Australian Semillon, a French Savenieres (Loire Valley), or if you want a sweet one a German Auslese. For a ten year white, look for a Sauternes.
