Went on a wine-tasting trip to Paso Robles last month. Visited Eberle (grabbed a 98 Barbera and a Muscat Cannelli), visited Sylvester (nabbed a 98 Sangiovese), dropped in on the beautiful Meridian winery (grabbed somethin'), checked out Mastoantano (some sparkly), and the highlight of the trip was undoubtedly Tobin James. The tasting room is unlike any other you have ever seen!!! Also picked up a few bottles there!!!
Paso Robles... check it out.

Had a bottle of Grey Wolf chard before... downed some Wild Horse Chard at Cambria Pines lodge too!!!
I was on a wine tour, so our destinations were predetermined by our guide "Art"!!! $25, nice AC'ed van, no 502's, and a nice picnic lunch. I recommend that you stay in Cambria (check out Cambria Pines) and then reserve a space on their wine tour.
The van makes about 5 stops in 4 hours, I wish I could have visited them all. But as you can see, I tasted alot of the local wines at the lodge!!!
The lodge is great... huge rooms with couches and fireplace... huge winelist... great food... and great prices around $75 a night.

Only mentioned Firstone & Zaca Mesa as nice places to visit, not that their wines were superior to all the others mentioned.
While we're on the subject of Paso Robles, let me put in a plug for another great Petite Sirah. It is 1997 Arciero, Paso Robles, Petite Sirah. Know I mentioned it somewhere else recently, but it is a winner for less than $10.00. Got another half case of it from Pops along with some other things. It goes wonderfully with a wide range of stuff from lamb, to steaks, to burgers as we had tonight.

Arciero has a beautiful winery... saw it from the road. Heard some interesting "stories" about the owner too (I hope I don't get whacked)!!!
