hi all,
hubby and I have been trying out some sparkling wines, I like them better. Question is, I know that they are not champagne, but what type of glass do you drink them out of, or does it matter?
We are now down to one glass, he has broke two, I broke one a couple days ago, so I am planning to order some glasses (and putting in some more cabinets so they can be put up in a safe place!!!).
I was wondering, do I need to order flutes for sparking wines?
Does anyone have an opinion of the glasses from Wine Enthusiast? I hate to pay to high a price right now, but do want some good stemware.

I would have said to order your glasses right here at wines.com, however I ordered dozens of flutes several months ago and never received them. I also ordered decanters, which came promptly.

If you have a store like Planet near you, it is a good place to buy stems. They have unrounded edges, come in all styles, and run $4-$6 per stem. Yes, you need flutes for all bubblies.

Some of the best buys in Champagne are the gift sets they sell around Christmas. Great bottle of bubbly, with two glasses that are almost always at least adequate, since the winery is putting their name on them. I had a gift set to celebrate the purchase of our new house last Friday. It was a Laurent Perrier Brut LP, with two flutes, for $30. The wine alone niormally costs at least that. The ideal shape is subject to endless debate. In general, though, you want a long, narrow glass that lets you watch the graceful rise of all those lovely bubbles. NEVER use a colored glass. A lot of the enjoyment of any wine is seeing the color and the movement in light.
