- Sunvolt - 05-28-2003 I'm not much of a wine drinker. I've had a bottle of chardonnay in my cabinet for about 8 years (1987 William Hill) standing upright. I'm attending a Shakespeare in the Park festival tomorrow and would like to impress my date but don't want to open a bad bottle of wine. Should I be concerned about the contents? Should I get another wine? Any help is appreciated. - thewoodman - 05-28-2003 You will surely impress her with this...but maybe not in the way you want. I'd get another bottle. A nice New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc with some light picnic fare would be good, or a sparkler like an Italian Prosecco. - Bucko - 05-28-2003 A great BIG ditto........ - winoweenie - 05-29-2003 Bill was over the Hill 10 years ago.WW - JagFarlane - 06-10-2003 Yea I would have to agree with them in regards to NOT use that wine. Traditionally a wine should be stored on its side, in order to keep the cork wet and the bad stuff [lol] out. Also keep in mind the temperature fluctutations will have messed with the maturing of the wine, so...I couldn't, in good faith, say take a chance on that particular wine. |
