Does anyone know how to get rid of SpyWareQuake. It appeared on my puter yesterday while I was on the net, and we immediately encountered all kinds of problems. My PestTrap popped up with several pages of problems which we deleted. Three new programs appeared on my desktop which we deleted on the Control Panel. My homepage was changed which we were able to change back. We found files for it on the Program Files on the C-drive and deleted them. PestTrap still kept finding one or two problems which we deleted as well as the files that were being infected. Right now we are not catching anything, but the damn thing is still on my desktop and won't go away. Any suggestions?

From what I know, that one is a real pain and they keep coming out with new variants. Try bleepingcomputer 'dot' com and search their forum for spywarequake. There should be up-to-date instructions, but they are likely long and difficult to follow. Best advice is to get a good spyware removal program.

Highly recommend Norton for all comp. security issues. Had Zone alarm until a couple of years ago, but that thing was as hard to get rid of as a virus! Had to reformat the hard drive. You may have to do the same thing, IK. Painful, very painful.

I had some horrible spyware and downloaded SpyBot to kill it. Its free.

Spybot didn't catch anything, but PestTrap caught a bunch. They (PestTrap) are working on it for me now.

Norton has always worked for us. We've tried about 8 to 10 different SW Packages, but always come back to Norton.
