I need some ideas on what to do about the light bulbs--they will not go away on any of the threads, whether or not there has been recent activity.

All my cookie monsters are set to accept--what else can I do? I'm on a Mac classic system right now.

This will all be revisited when I get either my old computer back or a new one...

Byt the way, did I mention that computers s...?

i am on three macs, and i've had no light problems...

Kathy,

you're no help...

Hey, I might be able to sell an article about our Washington trip to Decanter. We need to talk about that when the time comes.

- Kcwhippet - 01-04-2005

Actually, Kat is a great help, Foodie. Since many of us are on non-Macs and she's on three Macs,m and none of us have problems, them the problem is obvious. It's you!!! What did you do to get yourself into this mess?

- Thomas - 01-05-2005

KC, on New Year's day my laptop stopped working. Just black screen--nothing. So I was forced to switch computers, not to mention reload all I had saved externally, and lose all I had not.

Anyway, it took three days for this bb to accept my registration and now the light bulb problem. This is the first time since I signed up (1999) that all the lights remain on. It is such that until it is fixed I might not be signing on daily, because I have no way of knowing if I'll be wasting time going through threads that have not had recent activity--getting too old for wasting time, as I am sure you know all about

Foodie,
Look at the date of the latest posting in the thread!

- Innkeeper - 01-05-2005

When on the road or when our puter is acting up, we just click on: "Click Here To View Today's Active Topics (all public forums)"

- Thomas - 01-05-2005

WOW, if you just look at the date, to be certain you are not duplicating then you should look only once a day. But then, if you just look at the date, and you look once a day, you could miss posts from later in the day. To do what you suggest means having to look at the date just before midnight each night, and a guy my age is hopefully asleep by then, or hopelessly wined out...

IK, same problem using that method. But I am going to have to do it. I cannot waste time searching--it makes my blood pressure rise to Gibsonian proportions.

- wondersofwine - 01-05-2005

And we wouldn't want that, Foodie.

- Innkeeper - 01-05-2005

Here's another idea. Try going through the front door, i.e. go to www.wines.com first. Then click on the board. I find that if I go directly to the board I have light bulb problems too.

- Jackie - 01-15-2005

Help me understand what is going on....

Part 1) try entering the wineboard from these two pages... http://wines.com (click on "ask an expert" & then http://wines.com/wineboard

Are the lightbulbs correct? (some on some off)?

If so, please reset your bookmark for the wineboard. See if this helps.

Part 2) Now, enter a forum and then tell me how you usually go back to the main page of the wineboard from within a forum. There are several ways to do this & I need to know which you habitually use.

I will be able to diagnose your lightbulb problem better when I get your responses to the above questions.

Thank you. I want to make this as easy as possible for everyone, so your input is important. If you are frustrated, so are many others who are not reporting it... in all probability.

Cheers!
Jackie

Jackie,

Normally, I had bookmarked the wineboard and was getting lightbulbs on all forums, whether or not there were new posts. I took IK's suggestion and started signing on through the home page. That seemed to help--although every once in a while, as I navigated through various forums, the light bulbs would all vanish.

Tried your suggestions and get similar results, but not always!

When I am navigating the forums if I make a posting I click on the wineglass to take me to the board. If I read but do not post I simply back up.
