I can't access this site through AOL but get it ok with Netscape.

Why would you want to use either one?

Never had a problem with an independent ISP and IE 5.x (as much as I hate to say anything nice about Microsoft).

Does anybody understand this "Duttonspeak"?

AOL uses the Microsoft Internet Explorer as its web browser. They used Netscape a long time ago, but then switched to IE.

My comment was: Why use AOL as a gateway to the internet. Use an independent ISP (Internet Service Provider) and use your personally chosen web browser, whether that be Internet Explorer from Microsoft or the Netscape Browser from Netscape. Either way you will be better-off, IMHO, than if you access the web using AOL.

On top of all that, I hate to admit that I use Internet Explorer from Microsoft. Quite frankly, there used to be a lot of simpler, easier to use operating systems before Windows...... and IE 5.x.

However........... if you use an IBM based computer then you are stuck with Windows and IE 5.x or Netscape........

Should this be continued? Maybe so in Rants and Raves and on then only on a website about computers instead of wine.......

All I can add is that as soon as my years contract with uswest is up, the doorknob is hitting me firmly in the tuckus on my way back to AOL from this stupid internet explorer. It takes a full 24 hours for my E-mail to get posted and none of the experts can give me an explanation. Also the last week, without warning my computer screen displays a little box that says I've performed an illegal act and shuts down. "Aint this fun! I never had one iota of problem with aol so next month I BE BACK@ WW

Well I figured it out. I had a corrupted AOL adapter (software). Deleted it and the system rebuilt one....works great now.
