Anyone get their spring shipment yet? Just got mine yesterday. Yeah!! There was a varietal I've never hear before, Lagrein. Anyone had this before?

- Kcwhippet - 04-06-2005

Haven't got mine yet. However, I did get my case of 03 Old & Mature Vines from Scherrer today. I'll give them a few days to rest and try one - my first ever.

- californiagirl - 04-06-2005

Loved the Scherrer. My fav lately is the Novy Sonoma Cty Syrah. Only 1 bottle left. What's a girl to do?

I've read a few articles and posts on WLDG. Here is a link.

Any more sightings of the Spring Shipment?

Still waiting, in NH, on a bit of sunshine coming my way from CA!!!

- Innkeeper - 04-08-2005

Still waiting here too. They hit my credit card on March 30!!

Incidentally Gregg, if we ever sell this place we will be moving to Middleton, NH which is about an hour and fifteen minutes from you.

Haven't seen hide-nor here in the valley. Hope like the blazes it comes soon...almost hit a beautiful 90 here today. WW

What sunshine??? We had major downpours today, with tornado warnings. Not quite your typical weather!!! (Except, peaking through the clouds, you could always see a slight bit of blue sky=)

- Zinner - 04-12-2005

Think I've had Lagrein before in an Italian wine, but memory fails me as to producer. It's a variety from the Trentino-Alto Adige.

Please post what you think of the California one.

- winoweenie - 04-12-2005

Shipment arrived yesterday. Put them lil' dudes to rest immediately. WW

IK,

Middleton is a very nice area, I love the lakes region it is absolutely beautiful at all points of the year.

Let me be the first to give you a nice big pre-emptive Welcome to the neighborhood!

FYI Still no sign of my little bottles of sunshine either.

- Kcwhippet - 04-12-2005

No James Gang shipment here either - yet.

- californiagirl - 04-12-2005

Must have sent them out to the locals first

Ours arrived this morning! Would have here yesterday, but we were up in Bangor. That's BanGOR not BANGer as you hear in news reports originating elsewhere.

Great selection of wines although five of them have to lay down for a while. The BBQ tools are nice too.

Wednesday night I had a bottle of Lagrein, by Cantina Tramin. I remember it fondly. Soft is the first word that comes to mind when describing this wine. Dried Cherries and Prunes on the nose. medium bodied, smooth tanins with a bit of spice at the finish.

Paired up very nicely with the penne and chicken in a spicy tomato sauce I was eating at the time. The soft feel of the wine paired well with the spice of the pasta. This is definantly a food wine.

- Kcwhippet - 04-15-2005

Turns out ours has been here all week. They go to Judy's office, and she just hasn't brought it home yet.

- GreggJ - 04-15-2005

Hello,

Good news mine came in via the pony express today. WHOOHOO!.

IK, Which ones would you age and for how long. I am new to the TJ club and moreso the aging thingy, never quite had the required restraint. any advice on the agers and the drinkers would be much appreciated.

thanks

- Innkeeper - 04-15-2005

Would age the French Camp at least one year.

Would age the Fatboy, Syrah Silver, Lagrein Silver and the Cabernet Reserve at least two years, and maybe the Cab longer. I have it as the last to drink in '07.

Hopefully we will be drinking all five of them in New Hampshire!

Oh, forgot the drinkers. The remaining three (Sangiovese, Chardonnay, and dessert wine) can be consumed after ten days rest. WW has already posted on Sangiovese.

- Innkeeper - 04-10-2006

Has anybody got this ('06) spring's shipment? They hit my credit card on March 25 and were supposed to ship during the first week in April.

- Kcwhippet - 04-10-2006

Don't have mine yet. Fret not, IK. T'will be here soon.
