wineloverspage.com has a nice article about Finger Lakes wines including a photo of the giant barrel at Glenora Wine Cellars and references to Glenora's sparkling wines, inn and restaurant and several wineries on Seneca Lake that were visited by our offline in May. Makes me want to visit Inn at Glenora Wine Cellars again and try some wines I may have missed.

There's another article over there on the Travel section by somebody you know.

I'm going back to Glenora in September. Can't wait! While taking the wine tour in Williamsburg we met a woman who was leaving this week to spend a week on Keuka. We had a nice chat. I have to admit that I was very jealous. I might have to look into a little rental up there.

- wondersofwine - 07-22-2004

I did see your article, IK. Very well written as WW hints.

- Thomas - 07-22-2004

Georgie, I know of a small house for sale below the sloping vineyards behind my place.

IK, is there a way to read your article without having to get and sign onto the winelovers page?

Incidentally, there is a periodical called the Finger Lakes Wine Gazette. Its summer edition is out and in it, I wrote a little about the Glenora weekend in May.

- wondersofwine - 07-22-2004

Can you provide a link Foodie or is it only available in hard copy?

- wondersofwine - 07-22-2004

Georgie,
You know the song "The night the lights went out in Georgia"--don't repeat "the night the lights went out on Georgie" when you go in September. (And don't try to shower if the lights don't work.)

You need to go to www.wineloverspage.com and on the left side chick on travel & restaurants. Scroll down and you will find it. I tried to peddle it locally to no avail and put it there because there was plenty of feedback from our get together on our board. It will be achieved there.

IK, I must be having a blonde moment. I found Bucko's article, but not yours. Help!

- Thomas - 07-22-2004

cg, did you dye your hair? KC told me you are brunette...

Seriously, I did what you said IK--nada.

- Thomas - 07-22-2004

Wow, don't know--will check for you.

- Kcwhippet - 07-22-2004

Foodie,

cg was born a blonde and she's a blonde now.

- Kcwhippet - 07-22-2004

To find IK's post, i went to www.wineloverspage.com, clicked on Travel, then clicked on search and keyed in finger lakes in Message. It worked.

- Thomas - 07-23-2004

KC, I'll try that.

By the way, I was only chiding CG in jest. You never told me anything about the color of her hair.

- Kcwhippet - 07-23-2004

I didn't think I did, but after working through most of the lineup on your dining room table, who knows what anyone was telling each other.

IK, nice story.

I also read that fellow Peter's travelogue.

Though his writing is fine (aside from a few glaring errors about the region and even some people's names) he uses the word "sour" to describe (especially Riesling) finish. Rare indeed that a wine is sour, and when it is, it is dead.

What he means, I think, is acidic--tart. Next time you "converse" with him online, ask him to identify his term "sour."

Found the same flaws Foodi-poo. That may be the reason my assessment pf SWs' is so acidic, er sour, no mooshie. WW

ww, you want to taste sour--try milk that has gone bad, or better yet, eat some raw brewers yeast. I've done both and am lucky to be alive I suppose!

Sour is not the word to use inplace of either bitter or tart--not the same at all.
