I'm going to San Antonio and the Hill Country in a week--a friend of mine told me that Texas has a sizable wine industry? What are some good wines and wineries to look for around there? Thank you.

Enjoyin' din-dins, that's where I be.

Sanjay, suggest you visit Joe Saglimbeni's Fine Wines & Cigars on W. Rhapsody and buy a few bottles of different Texas wines. Try them, then decide where you'd like to visit. Most of them are to the NW of San Antonio, 1-2 hours out; but one is to the NE at Bryan, about 3 hours from SA (that's Messina Hof). Bucko is right, none are at all remarkable.... not yet. Becker Vineyards out of Fredericskburg, close to Stonewall, is the best IMO in terms of their Cabs. But none will really ring your bell.

If you don't venture beyond Joe's wine shop, that alone will be an interesting visit. He probably has the best selection in town, especially of Italian juice.
