Many thanks to "winoweenie". Your advice, in a couple of postings on this site, was invaluable in helping me to slice through an overwhelming array of Wineries and Eateries, to plan our first, regrettably-far-too-short trip to the Napa Valley.

Wine super-highlights would have to be Cakebread, Whitehall Lane and Spottswoode (even though Spottswoode's fabulously elegant wines were "not my personal style"!) We also enjoyed the most neighbourly of tastings at Milat Winery, with brothers Mike and Bob. Their impressive list of family produced wines includes a terrific Chenin Blanc, a varietal which, sadly, seems to be disappearing for the moment.

Dining highlights -- A lovely, relaxed lunch at the Flatiron Grill, Calistoga. A delightful dinner at the Rutherford Grill (except for their dumb, dumb, dumb requirement that you settle up your waiting-at-the-bar tab before you proceed to your now-ready table. I can't recall the last time I had to do that). And....drum roll....a sensational wine and food experience at the CIA.

Can't wait to return.
