Table-top model, 24 lbs of pewter & granite. Beautiful. The design dates to 1897. B-day surprise from my lovely better half. We'll try it out tomorrow night when we host good friends for supper..... figurin' on cow with Bdx.

Don't make her mad Hotdie. That thing could really do the ole dome some serious damage. WW

Glad she gave it to you, but I don't let my wife carry around that much loose change.

Tried it on a Bdx and an Albarino last night, with mixed results. Will take a little practice for Ol' Fumble-fingers to learn to use it easily.

O-o-o-o-k. Used it last night on a bottle of Avignonesi RdM to accompany her eggplant parmesan. Zippity-do, quick as a flash. Slick!

It's kind of counter-intuitive, at least to this old dog: you clamp the bottle neck with your left hand and start with the handle pushed all the way back, then pull the handle toward you to penetrate and remove the cork. (If you start with the handle pulled forward and lift up and back, you'll punch the cork down into the bottle.... not so good.)
