- VouvrayHead - 05-02-2009 I just got my case* of new wines from Thackrey, so I decided to drink one of my two remaining Pleiades from the previous bottling. (* I searched for old Pleiades notes and saw somoene mention on here that you can only buy by the case from his wine list. This is no longer accurate. I found getting on the list very easy by emailing Sean, who was quite kind in his reply, and then I ordered by calling a woman who works with him. One can order even a single bottle, though I don't know why you would.) Anyway, I think this particular bottle is slightly less vivid than the two I drank in Stinson Beach (though I think any wine might be), but I still just adore this wine. I do find it rather burgundian, which I noted previously, with bright cherry and loads of spice with a remarkable herbal component. I read somewhere that some of his juice sits out in the open under the ubiquitous coastal Eucalyptus trees, and I think that may be true. It's an herbal note I've not encountered anywhere else, and it's in lovely balance with everything else. It's a unique wine, fruit-forward, complex, bright and focused. Really lovely. - winoweenie - 05-02-2009 And REALLY makes this day very special. ww - VouvrayHead - 05-02-2009 I figure as much as I borrow from that country's cuisine, I really needed to show my appreciation for their labor!
