I bought a single bottle of this back in January, put it down and forgot about it until tonight, when I went looking for a wine to accompany grilled Charolais burgers. This thing is big, fruity, and hot at 14% alcohol. The label doesn't indicate what kind of grapes went into it, just that they were from old vines. No matter, it's just not my cup of juice. Glad I only bought one bottle.

Hotsie, haven't had this bottling but Trentadue (32) has a bunch of old Zin, Grenache, and Barbera vines on his property. He is probably using some field blend for this wine. By the way, Ridges' great Geyserville wines are from this property.WW

Thanks, WW. I thought I could detect Zin in the mix, but couldn't be sure of the others. The heat kind of masked their identities. It's interesting that Geyersville is from there...

Nice surprise! I had plugged this puppy with Vacuvin and stuffed it in the fridge last night, expecting to dump it down the drain this evening, and it's actually IMPROVED! The fruit and heat have both moderated to make a pleasant quaff. Will note in the database that this one should be put aside for a day after opening....
