I know this probably should go under the South of France varietals, but...

...had this with dinner out Saturday night. this wine is not one of those monolithic syrahs that needs a decade to soften. i'd say it's at the top of its game now. loaded with blueberry liquer, cola, blackberry and a hint of cherry on the long finish. the fruit is the star here, with a touch of tannin left but little acidity. a very nice bottle. i'd drink up over the next few years. 89 points.

Phelps has been quietly making one of the best Estate Syrahs in Napa for over 20 years. Solid stuff. WW
