i was really looking forward to trying this wine, since i've heard a lot of good things about previous vintages of this blend. this year's bottling is petite syrah, zinfandel, carignane and gamay.

i've heard the term "warm fruited" before, and think i now know what it means. this bright burgundy colored wine is sweet red fruits (cherry and a little strawberry), with a bit of floral and just a hint of spice. it is a soft wine, with no tannins that is ready for immediate consumption. it has a warm, sweet mouthfeel, and was frankly a little too sweet for my palate.

i doubt i'll be buying more of lot 27, but i'll give lot 28 a try next year. at $9.99 a bottle, why not?

after posting this, i just saw the thread on lot 26. what a coinkidink!

I know this is a bone dry wine, but sure can give the "sweet impression." Let's try to remember this next time someone asks for a sweet wine.
