This is a blend of Zinfandel, Carignane,& Petit Sirah recommended as a "sleeper" by a local wine merchant. It was lush and velvety, with jammy dark fruit, a touch of cedar, a bit of earth, and a long finish. Despite the alcohol content (over 14 1/2%, if I recall correctly; course, if I can't recall correctly, maybe it was higher than that!), it wasn't "hot", and in fact had a lovely softness to it. It was $12.99 on sale and had the richness of a more expensive wine.

Sounds like a wine retailer worth cultivating.

Hi John G and congrats to your local pusher. This wine comes from the same planting that Ridge Geyserville Zins have come from for 30 years. John Trentadue(32 in Italian) makes some very ordinary and some killer juice from his pretty property in upper Sonoma. His 74 Cab at 4 bucks and change was one of the P/Q leaders in that great vintage. WW

Face it Foodie, except for that tango he performs with the Englich langidge, WW knows just about everything there is to know.

WW, what had you been serving Glen Campbell that led him to do his Nick Nolte impersonation?

We were all quite surprised when he fell off the wagon. He'd been clean as a bell for over 5 years. That hard liquor stuff be BAD! WW
