Wahluke Slope, Columbia Valley, Desert Wind Vineyard.

This new outfit in Prosser, home of CCK, is from the folks of Duck Pond in the Willamette Valley. We didn't stop at their new facility in Prosser, though. Instead, we had tried the wines from them while visiting Duck Pond during our pre-offline trip in the summer of '05.

Reddish-purple in the glass, and quite tannic on opening. After airing, showed black cherry and plum aromas and flavors with a finishing jolt of prickly spices. Has the body and weight of a Syrah, though. Perhaps that's due to the inclusion of 19% Cab Franc and a smidge of Merlot in the blend. Relatively decent QPR wine for daily drinking at $14. 14.1% alc. They had a Barbera that we enjoyed at the time, too. Will pop that one shortly to compare.

Sounds like another winner.
