I opened this shortly before dinner. Dark ruby color, plenty of cherry and blackberry on the nose, initially the palate was mostly tobacco and leather, some fine tannin on the finish. By the time dinner (salmon in a orange/lime/ginger/teriyaki marinade) was served the tobacco and leather had receded in favor of distinct cherry and iron/mineral flavors with the tannins still hanging on.

This was neither as big nor as fruity as the '98 Freedom Hill, but I found it to be more complex. Given the choice between the Freedom Hill, which is pushing $30, and the Temperance Hill, @$17.50, I'd take the Temperance Hill.

I agree, good juice.
