Over the weekend, Anne and I hit two new wine bars in the area, and I had two different '05 Beaujolais (Cru or Villages) that were fantastic, but I didn't take any notes. So, we cracked this when we got home. Incredible weight and depth for a Beaujolais, with a dark ruby color, vivid nose with black cherry like that of a Pinot Noir, and rich, intense fruit flavors that sail along on a lengthy finish. Yummy stuff, and it should be able to age a bit, too. Alc. 13.5%. Paid about $13 locally. The '05s I've had so far are the best Beaujolais I think I've ever had. Anne loved it, too, and she's not usually all that fond of Gamay. We've got another that we're cracking this weekend, but she says that this is in the lead for her "summer wine."
