I'm giving Cranberry Wine as a holiday gift and would like to include some type of food with it. Any suggestions?

Is this cranberry wine sweet? If so, it would pair well with other sweet items, like candy, or salty items, like a selection of nuts.

A good rule of thumb to bear in mind here is that the wine should be at least as sweet as the food (or else the sweeter food will make the wine taste bitter).

If it is sweet, you might look for "Cranberry Bark" in your supermarket around the holidays. It's delicious and made from white chocolate, dried cranberries and an assortment of pecans, almonds, etc.

Here is a recipe if you need to make your own:

Cranberry Bark

Melt two pounds of white chocolate in double boiler, stir constantly

Remove from heat, add pecans, almonds, etc. & bag of Craisins (sweetened dried cranberries) available in supermarket

Pour on to wax paper lined cookie sheet.

Put in freezer for ten minutes.

Break into pieces and put into boxes, tins or small jars, or candy gift bags. Wrap with decorative ribbon.

Thank you Jackie, great idea! The wine is a little sweet, I will do the Cranberry Bark. Thank you for the recipe as well. I may add some spiced pecans also.
