2003 Chateau de la Guimoniere, Rose d'Anjou ($9.25 Blue Hill Wine Shop). Alcohol level 11%. It the traditional rich super fruity somewhat sweetish style of d'Anjou, we think this one may have more Grolleau than Franc, but very apropos for our meal of grillpanned smoked pork chops and spinach.
Gives you a huge rush of red cherry fruit on the nose and upfront. More fruit and some sweetness across the palate, and a quick pleasant finish. At under $10 it is ten leagues ahead of White Zin.
