I'm going to a brown bag wine tasting. We're all to bring something from New Zealand along with something to serve with it.

Anyone have any great ideas?

I was at the Boston Wine Expo and had one all picked out...then I left behind all my info...was so mad!!!

I understand that there are some lovely pinot noirs. I have had several luscious Sauvignon Blancs from such wineries as Cloudy Bay, Villa Maria, Brancott, Jackson Estate and Giesen.

Come to think of it, I've never had a bad NZ Sauvignon Blanc.

The Brancott Chardonnay is also nicely done.

Saint Claire SB is another good one. Though you've got to figure that the majority of the offerings at this event will be sauvignon blancs. It's what people immediately associate NZ with these days.

Nobilo Wines, of the famed Frank Nobilo professional golfer, owns the NZ vineyard with his brother and produces some nice SB's.

Hi Kate, and welcome to the Wine Board. Here is something different: 2000 Sherwood Estate, Canterbury-Marlborough, Pinot Noir ($13). If you can't find it or one like it, look for 2001 Alpha Domus, North Island, Chardonnay ($11). It is an unwooded one, and available here in Maine.
