The second 2005 Loire of this micro-tasting. $21 at Spec's, 12.5%.

Eh. Just seems to lack overall balance. Pale color, nice enough nose, the palate is mineral and a little creamy - in fact, more than a little. Not a bad thing in itself in my book, except there was no noticeable acidity to back that up. Round and non-threatening.

At least from the Reverdy Sancerre les Coutes I know 2005 is capable of great stuff, but even in a great year one can fail to be noticeable, as evidenced by this Pouilly Fume.

I should point out that the winery is called Serge Dagueneau, not the legendary Didier Dagueneau. I was rooting for this wine because the full name is "Serge Dagueneau et Filles," which is a sign of a very welcome evolution in the wine industry, but this particular wine falls short.
