Sauvignon Blanc. $8.99. 12% alcohol.
From Loire Valley. Medium straw color. Lemony nose. Citrus and minerals on the palate. A bit tart but still pleasant. A less expensive alternative to the Sancerre Sauvigon Blanc I like. I had it with baked chicken breast with onions and mushrooms but it would also pair with green vegetables and salads or shellfish dishes and possibly bleu cheese.
Back label: 100% Sauvignon. Produced on sandy and silica soils with limestone subsoil. Low yields. Very fruity wine with a complex bouquet of linden-tree citrus fruits and pineapple. Mineral and long palate. Expressive, fresh. (Having never tasted or smelled linden-tree fruit--even in Berlin--I can't comment on that comparison.)
