1999 Sautereau, Cotes de Reigny, Sancerre (Rouge); ($13.50 at Is-Wine). Wonderful, medium bodied pinot. Fresh red cherries on the nose and upfront, earthy complexity and completely smooth tannin across the palate, and a lovely finish. Matched perfectly with a smoked roaster chicken, salad, and whole wheat rolls.

It's definitely one of my favorites, and it's a wine people come back for. Great harmony between the fruit, herbs and minerals expressed in the wine, along with great acidity and fine tannins.

Cheers,
