2001 Dry Creek Vineyards, Clarksburg, Dry Chenin Blanc ($9 Blue Hill Wine Shop). Floral and citrusy on the nose and upfront. Melon and more fruit in the complexity crossing the palate. A very refreshing finish. This wine has been in our repertory longer than any other we can remember, going all the way back to our Hawaiian days in the early seventies right after the winery came on line. Not that we have it that often, but it is like running into an old friend. It does stand in marked contrast to the Savennieres we have in cellar and purchased at the same price. A perfect way to compare Old and New World styles. Love them both. Matched this one with Haddock Sauté a la Crème last night. Wonderful. Plenty of fruit to carry the cream.
