I can do my happy dance! Shawn Johnson won the balance beam competition and Nastia Luiken took silver (I thought Johnson was underscored on the balance beam in the all around competition.) Also, Jonathan (sp?) Horton took silver on high bar. Shawn Johnson is from West Des Moines where my sister lives and I think she attends the high school that my nephews attended. (She's been going to school half a day and spending 5-6 hours a day at the gym.)
Another Des Moines female athlete suffered a great disappoinment in hurdles. She was headed for a gold medal, out in the lead, and then clipped the next to last hurdle and didn't medal.
