blew through is-wine today with his bride. I think they are on their way home Sunday. They had good things to say about Roberto, and they mentioned Mrdutton's cooking too. They also took a couple of wines off my hands.

Good to see that they are still hopelessly demented....

Memorable restaurants from recent road trip:

Bernardo's Italian Bistro, Manchester, NH (very nice)
Crab Shanty, Ellicott City, MD (as good as crab cakes get)
Logan's Roadhouse, Statesville, NC (excellent example of the genre)
Shells, Altamonte Springs. FL (excellent small chain of FL seafood dinner houses)
Dixie Crossroads, Titusville, FL (must stop in Space Center land)
Louis Pappas Riverside Restaurant, Tarpon Springs, Fl (must stop on west coast)
Amica's, Saint Augustine Beach, FL (wonderful Italian food on the beach)
O'Reilly's Pub, Charleston, SC (no relation to Bill)
Trellis Restaurant, Williamsburg, VA (lives up to reputation, simply terrific)
Killmeyers Old Bavaria, Staten Island, NY (fantastic German food and beer)
Aesop's Tables, Staten Island, NY (great food and service, most expensive of trip)
America, New York, NY (still very nice, and a great place to bring kids)
Joe's American Bar & Grill, Paramus, NJ (well run property of regional chain)
C.R. Sparks, Bedford, NH (wonderful food, don't accept Tania as server)

I have a friend who raves about the Death-by-Chocolate dessert at the Trellis Restaurant in Williamsburg. I think you can have too much chocolate in one dish so it's not for everybody.

- Innkeeper - 03-21-2002

We had much lighter desserts, but did pick up a "Death By Chocolate" tote to haul around New York when afoot.

- winedope - 03-21-2002

too much chocolate? are you kidding??? seriously, Marcel Desaulniers and Co. are a talented group and well worth the trip. Thanks for the list, IK, will print and keep for future reference. WD
