- allie - 11-10-2000 Hi-I'm new to this-I just received a bottle of Chateau Margaux Premier Cru 1990 for a wedding gift and am wondering about it. Is it good? Should I keep it for a while? Thanks for your help! - ddf68 - 11-10-2000 You have good taste in friends. Chateau Margaux is one of the most prestigious wines in the world--with prices to match. It is also of very high quality. In a good vintage, which 1990 is, Margaux can easily improve in bottle for 20 years. If you have adequate storage conditions--constant temperature in the fifties or low sixties--you may want to hold onto it for at least a few years. You are in for a glorious wine experience. Cheers! ddf p.s. I notice you have also posted this question under Collectibles. The inhabitants of this board prefer messages only to be posted in one place. In a regular house without a basement, any ideas on where to store the wine. I appreciate your help with this. - Innkeeper - 11-10-2000 Would have sworn we saw this question someplace else before. In regard to the follow up question; in the bottom of the most central closet in the place, so long as it doesn't have a heating duct in it. If you want to hang onto it for several more years, you might want to check into how much a local retailer would store it properly for you. - allie - 11-10-2000 Thank you-I had posted both my messages at the same time not knowing that was not acceptable. Sorry Thanks again for your help! I will check with the local wine stores.
