help! Can any one out there tell me about this bottle of port from Alice Springs,in central Australia, made by D&M Hornsby of Alice Springs,(now closed) for the opening of the Federal casino, now Lasiters casino I think, in 1981 its a numbered bottle (1947) should i keep it or just drink it, any idea on its worth if any???

Hi Lucky and welcome to the board. The only pots that appreciate in value are Vintage Ports and they are slow to do so. Have some friends over for the final 4 and open that puppy up. WW

WW, don't know if they watch the final four in Oz.
Lucky, in Arizona they drink Pots, in the rest of the world they drink Ports. Good advice though; pop the sucker, and bottoms up.

thanks for your advice guys I dont know about the final four ??? but sure will drink it soon,, it has had a bit of a shake up over the last week or so should i let it settle for a while first? also i didnt know you could grow wine grapes in the desert or is that where you get your Arizona pots from????

Az is a diverse and complex state with not only the desert but mountains with ski resorts(Snowbowl opened for the first time this year last week-end) and rolling hills that have been home to vineyards for over 30 years. The area is prominsing enough that Drouhin just bought ackerage there. WW

Ahhhhhhhhh The final four. For our aussie friend thats college basketball.
The Az pot I stay away from.
But if our friend the WW could recommend a nice Arizona wine to me that would be nice. The two I've tried from the North Central part of Az (Page Springs) have not impressed me. Alas the sorrows of living in a small town in Az, the stores here do not carry all the Az wineries or even the best of others.
Looks like another trip to Phoenix is coming up soon.

I just said there was lots of vineyards planted here for a long time. I still have no Az wines in my cellar. WW
