My wife is a huge fan of the series, and thusly I paid attention to it in the background. I agree, these kids are enormous talents. Its just sad they their talent will be turned into the drek that haunts our airwaves today. Afterall, who really needs talent when they can produce you so you sound exactly like all the other crapola out there.

Barnesy

PS - what is called "country" today is just the same dreadful pop music with a cowboy hat and a twang.

Barnesy,

Right flippin' on. The only thing that keeps me listening at all is the emergence of the occasional Alan Jackson or, more recently, Brad Paisley, or the acknowledgement of the lasting value of somebody like George Strait. I think Josh Gracin from "Idol" COULD be an amazing country singer in the Strait/Jackson mold...but some A&R dildo will get ahold of him and smack him down in front of a pop band. (huge sigh)

Country music will never actually die - but it coughs up a little blood now and then.

SB, for my sake, if for no one else's, would you try not to be quite so graphic in your imagery? ICK!

My apologies. I tend to think of these forums (forae?) as a sort of Cranky Old Boys Club and forget that there are ladies present. No excuse for incivility in language. I'll rein in my vocab, pronto.

Many thanks!
