A long time ago I saw a plastic tray/plate ( I THINK it was in Kendall Jackson's wine shop) which was used for guests at tasting parties. It had a notch cut out to hold a wine glass so you could eat, hold your plate and glass at the same time. I have yet to ever run across this again. I have seen "clips" to hold the wine glass which you attach to a plate, but I suspect the plate must be robust and since many tastings I have been to have been outside where paper/cardboard plates are used I don't know how applicable the clips would be.

Does anyone know of a source for these wine tasting plates? or have a better idea for how to do it all at once assuming there is no convenient place to put your glass down. I think they'd make a great gift. I have scoured the www and many of the wine sites and gift shops to no avail. I even found a clipboard which can hold two glasses of wine and your tasting notes, but no plate.

I appreciate any help or advice.

I don't know a source for the plates, but The Wine Trader sells the clips. They would not work on truly flimsy paper plates...but it will work with everything from plastic coated paper plates to fine China.

The Trader sells in quantities as small as a 4-pak, so it's not very costly to give them a try.

Seattle Enological Soc. has them for sale, and they will ship them for a nominal fee. #425.603.9558, and ask for Colleen. They run $2.00 each, and are clear trays that hold food and a glass. They use them a lot for special events like their wine fest. and Christmas parties. Not fancy, but they work really good! (I just ordered a few as your request reiminded me about them, so thanks for the reminder!) K

Thanks Kathy! Sounds like exactly what I am looking for. Little did I know that group was right in my backyard. I will call Colleen and get some trays. I checked out the Society's web site and it looks interesting and active. Maybe I'll meet up with you sometime. - Michele

As of Feb. 9th Colleen will know me, as she's asked me to look her up at that meeting. So if you ever stop in, she can help you out in finding me. The 9th is Dundee Springs, which will be a very nice tasting if your into Pinot Noir at all. Just did a tasting of their wines this afternoon, yummy!
