Heard earlier that a 6.0 hit just about 10:15 local time, followed by a bunch more - one at 5.0, another about 4.0 and quite a few lesser ones. They were about 21 miles NE of Paso, so hopefully not too much damage occurred. They're sure getting more than their share lately.

Wierd. I heard on the radio on my way home today that it was really a 3.8 with no reported damages.

cg, If the person you heard that 3.8 from did any real research, instead of the talking head bit, they would have gone to the USGS site (see below) and found out that the largest one was a 6.0 with many, many smaller ones.

I'm not being hard on her, at all. It's the person doing the reporting that's got me griping. If they did just the slightest bit of real research before they reported their stories, they might find out just how much of what they're spouting is so inaccurate. Too many of them are no longer real journalists. They're just parrots, reading what some schlock has shoved in front of them.

Around here they always have the weatherman report about earthquakes on the evening news. Maybe since so many other natural disasters are weather related they just don't get it...or maybe that's the only person who took a science class beyond junior high.

Heard on the radio today that all the hurricanes down in FL is the Almighty's way of getting back at all the bluehairs doing 17 mph in the fast lane with their right hand blinkers on. Ever notice that a lot of cars down there seem to have nobody at the wheel when you're behind them? At least they don't have some old guy in the passenger seat leaning over to blast the horn.
