Can't even see through a maple tree in front that we can see through when it has leaves! Fully expect to lose the powa tonight. Have reheated the meatballs, and can cook pasta on the propane stove if necessary. Sigh!

We're havin' a cold spell here, too.... down to 50 right now.... snort, chortle, snicker....

- winoweenie - 02-10-2005

Know how you feel there Hotsie-Poo. Barely hit the 70s here today. WW

We have thunder and lightning coming down with the snow.....never seen that before.....

- hotwine - 02-10-2005

Thundersnow... I've seen it but can't remember where or when... kept expecting it to turn into a conventional thunderstorm but it just kept on snowing.

Damned crazy here as well -- unseasonably warm and sunny -- I keep waiting for the trap to fall.

I might have to break out the BBQ.

Well, we got fourteen inches and it is still coming down a little. Shoveled out to the car, and got the car cleaned off and moved so they can plow the front lot. Still have to do the front walk to the road.

Never did lose powa; which is hard to figa. But we'll take it.

Although we were told by radio weatherpeople about the snow storm coming our way, it by-passed us this time. Instead of 5 to 10 inches predicted we got a dusting, but dipped from being in the 50s back down to below freezing.

The last time I saw lightening and heard thunder through a snow storm was during one of the most fierce, dangerous and destructive storms we have had in the past 20 years. That is a scary scenario, almost as scary as the two massive arctic storms I remember while stationed at Thule Greenland in my Air Force days---ssssssshaking!

Engineer, if you had the lightning and thunder, that lets us (some of us anyway) sort of pinpoint where you live. There was a very narrow band in MA just southwest of Boston that got the lightning and heavy snow (about 8 inches). We were supposed to get 6 to 12 out here by Worcester, but only got about 1.

I remember waking up one night as a child in Nebraska to hear something striking the tin roof over the back porch. I looked out the window and saw blue lightning. I thought we were under some kind of attack by the Russians and that bullets were hitting the tin roof. Went running to my parents to wake them up and Dad reassured me that it was just a hailstorm. But I'd never seen that blue lightning before or since.

wow,did you start drinking at a very young age, perhaps? Kidding...We got nothing! Thank you, God. We're experiencing bright sunlight, strong winds and temps in the mid-30's today. Most of the 12 inches of snow from a few weeks ago is gone. IK, one of those storms a year is enough for me. Watch yourself with that shoveling and driving, please.

A litte tricky driving into Belfast this morning. Very little plowing, sanding, salting accomplished. Supermarket was packed! Got home again very carefully. It is still snowing! Having a Highlander sure helps.

- Thomas - 02-11-2005

Is the Highlander a car or some guy who acts as your snow guide???

- wondersofwine - 02-11-2005

It's probably the vehicle but I took it to be a straight Scotch!

- Innkeeper - 02-11-2005

A Highlander is a Toyota mid-size SUV built on a Camray chassis.

- winoweenie - 02-11-2005

I can really commisserate with you IK ole' pal. Started raining here last nite and has gone non-stop since. The temp has plummeted down into the mid-60s'. Will curl up with a nice bottle and watch the Suns play tonite. WW

KC,

You are right. I live out in Wellesley which is just off I-90 at the I90- and I-95 junction.

I got about 3-4 inches last night and it could have been much worst. As it is, I lost a very large maple tree from the weight of the snow on the branches! The tree was about 50-60 feet tall and it snapped in half at about the 25 foor height...not split apart...snapped into two. My neighbour had a small birch and something similar happened to hers.
daamn snow was pretty heavy
