I paid $35 a bottle for 1996 Baumard Quarts du Chaume. Spectator hypes the hell out of it and guess what the future price is now for the 97? $70 a bottle. Another world class bargain down the tubes. These Top 100 lists do wine consumers a diservice IMHO.

That is truly distressing. Who is selling Baumard futures already? Do you know when the wine will be released?

BLM (Brookline). Release date unknown.

Thanks. I know that the 95 and 96 (I paid about $17 per 1/2 bottle for the 1996) were severely underpriced relative to comparable German wines and Sauternes, but, I do wish at least one wine that I love would stay that way. Other Quarts de Chaume and Coteaux du Layon that I have tasted are not in the same class as Baumard. The only Chenins that I have had that are in his class are the Vouvrays from Foreau and Huet, and they (particularly Huet) are expensive.

Have you tried the wines from Pierre Bise? These are pretty darn nice.

No. I will have to try his wines.
