Foodie...when you can answer this, how'd you make out? Those were SOME scenes from NYC! I certainly admired the prevailing calm among all those people trying to get home! Hope you are OK. We didn't lose power where I am in NJ. Interestingly enough, I was getting calls from people int the city who were calling to find out what was going on. With no electricity, they had no idea what was happening and were understandably frightened.

I understand there were outages in western MA also. My sister-in-law in Blandford got it.

aaaaagh! the lab we use to process samples is in New York. What a pain the delay is for the patients!

Georgie, the only way I got news was to go to the parking lot where I keep my car and listen to the car radio. Recharged my cell phone that way too, plus got a burst of a/c for a while.
This is the third major blackout I have experienced in NYC, and it was by far the most calmly received by the residents. I've felt in the past few years that the city is quite a different place than it once was; the reaction to this situation proves it to me. Can you imagine: just over two dozen criminal (looting) problems in all five boroughs. The police were simply marvelous through the whole thing.

It will be interesting to see how many kids come into the world in nine months. There were mini population explosions after the last two blackouts.

Yeah IK, but those kids were probaly made the first night of the blackouts. After the first night the romance is gone in a hurry! And if it goes for five nights, like we had during Hugo, your lucky if your still married.
Thats why I have a generator. It's cheeper than a divorce.

IK, I heard that those stats about births after blackouts have not been proven. Perhaps the 1965 one, which took place in November, would have provided a chance--I was younger then, and I certainly did my share of trying that night; got the slap marks to prove it...
But the '77 and '03 blackouts happened during truly hot days--the ones with the energy in '77 went looting instead!

Well, we had a very brief failure at 1:30 this morning. Then got knocked off line about fifteen minutes ago (thought for awhile we had completely lost MIE, but it came back after rebooting). Hope this is not an omen of things to come. Stand by.
