Am I the only one rolling with laughter watching the Republicans respond to Arnold's 1977 interview with OUI magazine?

The Terminator was evidently fighting the common perception of gym-rats as girly boys at the time and gleefully told tales of orgies as spectator sport, getting orally serviced by groupies backstage at competitions and how, despite their somewhat masculine appearance, some of those female body builders could (to use the cleaned up language of the morning news reader) "copulate the excrement out of five guys in a row". He also used more expletives than Richard Nixon, truly a high standard for a nice Catholic boy to attain.

Watching his Republican backers spew about how "that was 25 years ago, it doesn't matter now" after all their rantings about Clinton's college days was fabulous comedy. Added to it was Fox News bimbo Dorothy Lucey, whose whole schtick is reading tabloid accounts of celebrity excess, expressing her "shock and horror" while wearing a skirt so short even she was embarrased about it while Jillian Barberie wondered what the stink was about since "it was the seventies, he is European (they think about sex differently) and he wasn't married at the time".

I am willing to bet this RAISES Arnold's numbers.....

Hipocracy rules. All of these reporters, politicians, etc. act so holier than thou and have just as many skeletons in the closet as the rest of us. Of course Roberto's closet looks like the lost elephant's graveyard.......

I love it! As the old saying goes, women need a reason for sex; men just need a place.

- Botafogo - 08-28-2003

Nah, Bucko, I have mine on display in the front lawn. I have been quoted in print as saying "Now that the statute of limitations is expired I can say 'Everything I know about selling wine I learned selling pot in High School: know your sources and cut out the middlemen'"!

- tandkvd - 08-28-2003

This Christian Conservitive is smart enough to know that the Democrats do not hold the Monopoly on crude and immoral behavier. Us Republicans can hold our on when it comes to being rude crude and socialy unacceptable.

Guess we could all take a trip down to Bama and take a glance at them thar 10 Comandments

- Innkeeper - 08-28-2003

I'd much rather talk about wine here!

- tandkvd - 08-28-2003

If it helps IK, I am enjoying a 2002 Rosemont Cab/Merlot right now.

- stevebody - 08-29-2003

I heard that Arnold used to lick a Doctor Loosen Rheingau Reisling Spatlese '74 off his groupies' breasts.

Knew we could turn this back into a wine thread, IK...

- Thomas - 08-29-2003

Somehow, I find that hard to believe, SB; Arnold seems like a "Blue Nun" kind of guy...

- eskinnyc - 08-29-2003

If leftist nitwits insist on turning the wine board into a Republican-bashing forum, you could at very least do us all the courtesy of both refraining from ad hominem attacks (Fox News bimbo?) as well as learning how to spell the word "hypocrisy".

- quijote - 08-29-2003

Leftist nitwits?

Ah, come on, Skinny. Democrats, Republicans and many others have been reproached on this forum. I, for one, don't mind the banter, as long as it's kept in the appropriate categories. After all, wine does invite conversation.... I suppose if one tires of a particular thread, it's not much trouble simply to skip it.

And may he who has the perfect command of spelling, cast the first dictionary....

- Botafogo - 08-29-2003

The girl in question calls HERSELF a "News Bimbo" (I think it is her way of feeling younger than she is) and she is on the local Fox affiliate's morning show (and their syndicated show Good Day Live) so what do you want me to call her, a commentator like Eric Severeid?

Besides, I am a Pagan Anarchist and hate the Dems MORE than the Elephants.

As to spelling, I speak three related languages and NOTHING ever looks right anymore...

Roberto

Bye the bloomin' Bye fellerz, this forum is rants and raves, not Wine101 and when it was 1st put on by the mighty Curmster the idea was you could either Rant or Rave on enny' subject your black heart might desire. Seems like we are veering into the abyss of wine geekdom that has made me refrain from ever joing ANY wine Society, tasting group, or other wine related board. And just soos it's clear, I don't take kindly to ennybodies pertin' out my spellin' mistakes. It is the result of what my chillin' call fat-fingers. Don't take a subject, wine or yourselves too seriously guys....Life's WAY too short. WW

- Kcwhippet - 08-29-2003

Damn straight, ww! The more time I spend here on this frail orb, I truly realize that way too many people are taking too many things way too seriously. I used to be that way, and now I'm spending my time trying to catch up on all the time I missed.

- quijote - 08-29-2003

Hey, WW--You don't make spelling mistakes! It's jus' we who cain't read right!

- Thomas - 08-29-2003

WW, you made sense there--is someone spiking your SW?

KC, what took you so long???

- Kcwhippet - 08-29-2003

Been a bit sick - still am. Takes me a bit to get the thoughts into words.

- winoweenie - 08-30-2003

Glad you gots' that rite Don Q. A good Optometrist can certainly benefit the problem. By the other-wise, I remember once Curmy ranting about the prices being raised at the Mustang Ranch, so a little friendly banter about something other than wine on this thread is certainly in order.WW
